Lerwick Brewery breaks the mould and pushes the boundaries of craft beer. Founded in 2012 by the brothers - John, Jimmy and Graham Mercer - it is the UK’s most northerly and remote brewery. They are as much Nordic as they are Scottish which gives them a unique outlook on life, and this is reflected in the beers they brew.
The brewery was built upon the brothers’ passion for two things: beer and their home. Located on the outskirts of Lerwick, they've created an outstanding brew family, from lagers, to IPAs and an oatmeal stout, they have something for everyone. Their range currently includes their 60° North lager, a selection of different IPAs, pale ales, limited editions and Tushkar their Oatmeal Stout. The company uses as many locally sourced ingredients as possible, and the local climate and water make for a product range which is contemporary yet has a deeply rooted Shetland provenance.
Their beers come in different formats, bottled, kegged and mini kegs to enjoy at home, and the brewery bar is the only place you will find real ale casked beer in Shetland.
Lerwick Brewery offer brewery tours and guided tastings, including a ‘Deep Dive Into Beer’ tour for beer fanatics. They have a function room which can be booked for events, an on-site bar where you can relax after a day of sightseeing, and brewery shop with their beers and a wide range of merchandise.
