Jill Franklin, Manager of Shetland Food and Drink, says: “We have been considering a Festival launch event for some time. Gary has such a passion for Shetland’s produce and such enthusiasm for working with the public that it seemed the perfect time to do this.
“ Ready, Shetland? Cook! is going to be great fun. Gary will challenge two of Shetland's best cooks to create fast, tasty dishes using local Shetland produce. Two lucky audience members will be picked at random to assist on stage in our Ready Steady Cook-style competition, with everyone in the audience voting for the winner. Then see Gary create his own dish with the same Shetland ingredients. With lots of audience participation, it promises to be a great way to kick off the Taste of Shetland Festival.”
Gary will also be sharing his recipes and cooking tips as part of the Festival schedule. He will be performing live on the Main stage on Saturday 6 October at 10.30am.
