Our 2018 Festival Date is Announced

November 17th 2017 | by Shetland Food and Drink in News

The Taste of Shetland Festival 2018 will take place on Friday 5 to Sunday 7 October. Our fourth year promises to be bigger and better than ever.

Our 2017 Festival was a fantastic success. With 3,000 visitors through the door, including nearly 1,400 on Saturday alone, folk flocked to visit our producers and watch the many live sessions happening throughout the weekend.

2017 Taste of Shetland Festival

James Morton showed why he reached the finals of  The Great British Bake Off  by taking the crowd through a bread masterclass, whilst chef Michelle Lepherd cooked and shared with the crowd the tastiest seafood, showing skills she learnt in Michelin-starred kitchens. Our Food Theatre was packed with folk throughout the weekend watching the full range of live sessions, whilst in the Heritage Area, the celebration was all about Grow Your Own. Bringing together the history of growing fruit and vegetables with current growing techniques, the Area included demonstrations, talks, artefacts, equipment and wonderful photographs. Sunday saw the live final of the  Taste of Shetland Cooking Challenge , where finalists battled it out for this year’s crown in front of a packed hall. The standard of cooking was extremely high this year, but Susan Msalila’s exquisite flavours shone through.

Planning for 2018 is already in the pipeline so we look forward to welcoming you to the Taste of Shetland next October. Weekend passes will be available to purchase through our online shop early in 2018. If you sign up to our email newsletter (please include a link here) then we will let you know when passes are available to purchase.
