Our 2018 Festival date is announced 17 November 2017

The Taste of Shetland Festival 2018 will take place on Friday 5 to Sunday 7 October. Our fourth year promises to be bigger and better than ever.

Our 2017 Festival was a fantastic success. With 3,000 visitors through the door, including nearly 1,400 on Saturday alone, folk flocked to visit our producers and watch the many live sessions happening throughout the weekend.

Just some of the many live demonstrations

James Morton showed why he reached the finals of The Great British Bake Off by taking the crowd through a bread masterclass, whilst chef Michelle Lepherd cooked and shared with the crowd the tastiest seafood, showing skills she learnt in Michelin-starred kitchens. Our Food Theatre was packed with folk throughout the weekend watching the full range of live sessions, whilst in the Heritage Area, the celebration was all about Grow Your Own. Bringing together the history of growing fruit and vegetables with current growing techniques, the Area included demonstrations, talks, artefacts, equipment and wonderful photographs. Sunday saw the live final of the Taste of Shetland Cooking Challenge, where finalists battled it out for this year’s crown in front of a packed hall. The standard of cooking was extremely high this year, but Susan Msalila’s exquisite flavours shone through.
