Taste of Shetland Cooking Challenge 2018
Our competition, celebrating great Shetland cooking, is now open for entries.
The Taste of Shetland Cooking Challenge 2018 is now open for entries. Last year's winner, Susan Msalila from Aith, celebrated her win by taking her family with her to experience her prize - an amazing foodie weekend in Edinburgh. Susan won return flights for two people to Edinburgh with an overnight stay, plus a six-course tasting menu with matching wines at Restaurant Martin Wishart with champagne on arrival, coffee and hand-made petits fours and a visit to the kitchens.
The Taste of Shetland Cooking Challenge was launched just two years ago. Every year it sees a greater number of entries. In 2017, Susan Msalila joined Fiona Stirling and Karen Malone to battle it out for the crown - with the 2016 winner, Chris Percival looking on!
Marian Armitage, Chair of Shetland Food and Drink, says: "The competition last year was not only great fun, it was really interesting to see how home cooks in Shetland use Shetland produce in their dishes. There was a lot of cooking talent on display in both the semi-finals and the final, and we were bowled over by the standard throughout. Everyone who took part seemed to love the experience. We cannot wait to see what 2018 has in store!"
