Peerie Bites - Open for Entries
Under 18? Then this is for you!
We are looking for budding cooks who want to find out more about Shetland produce. Win the opportunity to work with NorthLink Ferries' chefs on developing your recipe for future menus and have a chance to cook your dish on stage at this year's Taste of Shetland Festival!
Peerie Bites is a new competition for under 18s who love food.
All you have to do is create a savoury dish whose ingredients includes one or more items of Shetland produce. We’d like you to send in the recipe to us using the application form below. You will also need to create a short video (no more than two minutes) about the local ingredients you are using. So it could be about growing your own vegetables, working with Granny's hens or sheep, going fishing, visiting the local dairy - something that shows how interested you are in the story behind that Shetland produce. We want to see lots of enthusiasm - and a desire to find out more. We cannot wait to see the peerie films and see the recipes across both age ranges.
There are two categories to the competition: Junior, ie those of primary school age in August 2018; and Senior, those of secondary school age in August 2018.
This new competition, sponsored by Serco NorthLink Ferries, is aimed at young people of all ages. It is open for entries now and will culminate in a live final at this year’s Taste of Shetland Festival, the most high-profile event in Shetland’s food and drink calendar.
The deadline for entries is midnight on Sunday 9 September 2018.
The Peerie Bites live final will take place on Saturday 6 October, at the Taste of Shetland Festival, where 2 Junior and 2 Senior contestants will cook their dish.
