Da Haaf restaurant is within the NAFC Marine Centre and was originally just for the students and staff of the Fisheries College. It later began opening its doors to the public serving evening meals at the weekends too. Da Haaf quickly became the place to be for local seafood fine dining and has now been championing fresh local produce for over 20 years.
Mike Skinner and Lorna Graham are the husband and wife team who make it all happen. Both consummate professionals, Lorna manages front of house, welcoming you with a friendly smile, while Mike creates his trade mark contemporary, yet no nonsense style cuisine in the kitchen. They use the very freshest local produce and a wonderful selection of Shetland's world-class seafood. The menu is concise but very carefully put together, and strictly seasonal. If it's worth eating just now, Mike will have it on the menu and it will be prepared just as it should be!
The location is great too, enjoy views over Port Arthur towards the Scalloway fish market, where the fish on your plate was most likely landed that very morning. Lunches served Monday to Friday, evening meals available on Fridays and Saturdays.
Children are always welcome at Da Haaf and the building has excellent access for the disabled. Booking is recommended, especially for evening meals. If you're really lucky you might even be able to do a bit of whale spotting from this great waterfront restaurant.
Da Haaf is one of Taste of Shetland's Local Seafood Champions - Celebrating and promoting Shetland's outstanding seafood.
