Ragged Wood is a not-for-profit community group working hard to promote a wide range of local and international music throughout Shetland. This includes a regular series of concerts at Mareel in Lerwick and across the islands' network of village halls and other small venues.
Neil & Kelly Nicolson Riddell, the couple behind Ragged Wood, are passionate, curious and extremely knowledgeable about music of all kinds. They bring quality singer-songwriters and Americana acts to Shetland. Previous concerts have seen multiple Grammy Award-winning North American artists including Jason Isbell, Sarah Jarosz and Punch Brothers perform in the islands, along with a host of names from Scotland's thriving folk scene including King Creosote, Kris Drever, Rachel Sermanni and Admiral Fallow, veteran English folkie Martin Simpson and talented Irish singer Declan O'Rourke.
They also partner with other organisations to foster and develop the islands' own singer-songwriter scene though workshops and dedicated events. When circumstances allow they are very keen to work with other SFAD members on pairing fantastic live music with some of the outstanding food and drink on offer on these shores.
