2022 Food & Drink Festival Schedule

The Taste of Shetland Festival is the highlight of Shetland’s ‘foodie’ calendar. It brings together live entertainment and cooking inspiration with some of the best food and drink Shetland has to offer.

Saturday 22nd October 2022

10 am - doors open. £5 entry fee, under 16s free.

10 am - 4 pm - Meet the Producers in the main hall

10 am - 11 am - live music by The Haltadans

12:15 pm - 1 pm - live music by The Haltadans

3 pm - 4 pm - live music by The Haltadans

Main Stage with Nick Nairn

10:30 am - Festival opening by Celebrity Chef Nick Nairn, SFAD Chair Marian Armitage and main sponsor Scottish Sea Farms.

11:00 am - Nick Nairn cooks dishes with Shetland salmon, lamb and sassermaet.

2 pm - Shetland's Best Banger Competition - who makes the best sausage in Shetland? Cooking/judging by Nick Nairn & SFAD Team.

Masterclass Sessions in the Loch Bar

Booking essential at the door, only 20 spaces available per class. £3 fee to cover cost of ingredients.

11 am - Fermentation by Mandy & Yoyo from Growing Local Northmavine

12 pm - Tea by Celia Smith of Blyde Welcome

1 pm - Sourdough by Gus Dow

2 pm - Shetland bannocks by Kevin Smith

International Cuisine Kitchen

11 am - Germany: Christiane cooks potato soup with smoked sausages

12 pm - Phillipines: Beberlys cooks Pinoy egg noodles soup

1 pm - USA: Lannie cooks an Asian inspired seafood soup

2 pm - Myanmar: Mai cooks Foula lamb chops on cheesy spinach with a rhubarb red wine sauce

3 pm - Netherlands: Anneka cooks Dutch pancakes

Children's Entertainment Room

11 am - 4 pm - Art Workshop with Christina

11 am - 4 pm - Games-hook a duck/splat the rat/buzz wire/taste table

11 am - 3 pm - Facepainting with Babs

3:15 pm - Peerie Bites Competition Judging & Prize Giving

3:45 pm - Raffle Prize

2 pm - India: Suchita cooks Masala Crackers, Masala Puri and Lemon Rice

3 pm - India: Suchita cooks Idli, Sambar and Peanut Chutney
