May 2nd 2020 | by Shetland Food and Drink in News

Shetland food is the focus of a celebrity chef's journey through the isles which hit our screens on Friday.

As part of James Martin's Islands to Highlands: 80 Fantastic Recipes from Around the British Isles, the renowned TV cook visited Shetland on his foodie adventure across the UK.

This is the concluding episode of a 20-part ITV series which has been running throughout April, featuring cookery gems from the Scilly Isles, South Wales, Northumberland, Northern Ireland and the Isle of Man included.

Several Shetland businesses feature in the programme, including air-dried cold suppliers, Thule Ventus, and fruit and vegetable social enterprise, Transition Turriefield.

Amongst other dishes, James cooks up a mouth-watering Shetland-inspired paella which also features in the recipe book which accompanies the series.

Shetland Food and Drink manager, Claire White, said: "It was a pleasure to point James 's production team towards the first class produce available from our members, and the amazing food culture across the isles generally, last summer. They were spoilt for choice in selecting contributors and locations."

You can read a great interview with James about his Shetland experience over on Promote Shetland's website.

The book accompanying the series, featuring recipes from Shetland and around the UK, is also available to buy .
