Tom Jamieson’s bannock recipe

 

2 lbs plain flour

1 oz cream of tartar

½ oz bicarbonate of soda

1 pint milk

3 fluid oz sunflower oil

0.4 oz salt

 

Sieve the flour, cream of tartar, bicarb of soda and salt

Make a well in the mixture and add oil and milk

Mix (but not too much)

Turn out onto a floured surface and fold a couple of times until smooth

Cut into 8 oz weights

Shape, roll and quarter

Cook on a dry griddle or frying pan on a low to medium heat, turning once
