Busta House Hotel is the ideal place for a romantic getaway, a family celebration or a luxury base for an action packed Shetland holiday. The house is a historic building full of character. Originally the local Laird's residence, the earliest parts of the house date back to 1588, although it was later extended and improved in the mid 1700s. There are 22 rooms, each with its own individual character.
Busta House was first opened as a hotel in the mid 1970s and has operated as such continually ever since. In 2016, the hotel was purchased by Joel D’Eathe and Grant O’Neil. Both men had been working at Busta for a number of years, they started out washing dishes at weekends whilst students and have worked their way up over the years, finally realising their dream of running the hotel themselves.
The restaurant menu is designed to showcase local produce, Joel and Grant are both staunch supporters of the shop local movement and try to use local produce wherever possible. Gourmet lunches and evening meals are served in either the Lounge Bar or the Pitcairn Restaurant. Afternoon teas are available too, with snacks and drinks served all day.
The hotel's long room boasts an impressive collection of whiskies and is the ideal place to curl up with a good book after a day out walking on the hills of Northmavine or a swim at the nearby leisure centre. The long room is also used as small intimate venue for weddings and celebrations, and the beautiful grounds are the perfect backdrop for photographing a special day.
