The Speldiburn Café is part of the wider community initiative of Bressay Development Ltd. The café offers freshly made lunchtime specials and tasty soups, toasties and quiches along with homemade cakes and delicious Bean Shop coffee. All made using as much local Bressay produce as possible. Gemma’s Eggs, home-grown herbs and salad from the island’s gardeners, and Roadside tatties all feature regularly on the menu, when available. They also use local Shetland bread, dairy produce, meat, fish, chutneys and preserves.
A 20-minute walk from the Bressay ferry near the local children’s play park and the main route to Noss Nature Reserve, this bright friendly café is a great stop when visiting Bressay. The Café’s exhibition space showcases work by local and visiting artists and their Good As New Shop is well worth a look, you can pick up souvenirs and postcards, and there are also artists’ studios and a lending library.
The café is usually the finish line for the UK's most Northerly Parkrun too, reviving weary participants with hot rolls filled with your choice of bacon, egg, local pork sausages or mutton sassermaet every Saturday morning. Check their social media for events.
They also do event catering and you can hire the venue for events. Contact them to discuss your requirements.
