On Bigton farm, we aim to produce quality meat, from a local source.
Our sheep graze over the beautiful St Ninian’s Isle for most of the year. Meanwhile our cattle spend the summer on the east coast of Shetland, grazing a healthy mix of wild flowers and grasses. We take pride in the high welfare standards which we adhere to, being a member of Quality Meat Scotland. We produce our own livestock feed, silage and barley, which are fed throughout the winter. This helps the environment as we are not importing feed and our livestock are eating home grown quality grain and forage.
Our farm will be open for the Open Farm Sunday event in June 2020. Please look out for details closer to the time. We welcome visitors throughout the year, please contact us to arrange a time.
