Ingredients
- 2 lbs plain flour
- 1 oz cream of tartar
- ½ oz bicarbonate of soda
- 1 pint milk
- 3 fluid oz sunflower oil
- 0.4 oz salt
Method
- Sieve the flour, cream of tartar, bicarb of soda and salt
- Make a well in the mixture and add oil and milk
- Mix (but not too much)
- Turn out onto a floured surface and fold a couple of times until smooth
- Cut into 8 oz weights
- Shape, roll and quarter
- Cook on a dry griddle or frying pan on a low to medium heat, turning once
